OrthoAxis® Forum Posting Instructions

Want to participate in the forum? You will likely want to make a post.

There are two main types of posts you can make: a topic or a reply. Selecting the NEW TOPIC button in a forum button will take you to the posting screen. After submitting your post, a new topic will appear in that forum with your post as the first displayed. Other users (and you as well) are now able to reply to your topic by using the POST REPLY button. This will once again bring you to the posting screen, allowying you to enter your post.

Once you are logged into the forum you will see the Board index page. Just click on the Forum Category you would like to create a new topic in

Click on one of the "New Topic" buttons.

Enter a subject for your post

Type whatever you like in the main text entry area.

At this point you have several choices of what to do with your post. They include:
  • Formatting the text of your post and/or add images to the post. See "Formatting a Post" to learn more.
  • Hitting the "Cancel" button to throw away the post.
  • Hitting the "Save draft" button will save the draft. See "Loading a saved draft" to learn how to work with drafts.
  • Hitting the "Preview" button to see what your post will look like
  • Hitting the "Submit" button to add your post to the forum

From any post in the forum, click on the "Post Reply" button found above and below the post.

The posting form will display.

In the message window enter your reply.

At this point you have several choices of what to do with your post. They include:
  • Formatting the text of your post and/or add images to the post. See "Formatting a Post" to learn more.
  • Hitting the "Cancel" button to throw away the post.
  • Hitting the "Save draft" button will save the draft. See "Loading a saved draft" to learn how to work with drafts.
  • Hitting the "Preview" button to see what your post will look like
  • Hitting the "Submit" button to add your post to the forum

Once submitted the post is available for all members to view.

From within the forum, click on your name in the top right corner of the screen. Click on "User Control Panel"

When the "User Control Panel" is displayed, click on "Manage Drafts"

Find the draft you would like to work on and click on the "Load Draft" link

The draft will be displayed in the normal posting form ready for your modifications.

Make your modifications. You can click on the Submit button to make the post.

Your post is now available to be read by forum members.

The forum allows for a variety of formatting options. Learn what you can do by clicking on any of the tabs below.

The text to be displayed as bold is marked to be displayed bold and does not actually become bold in the editor window, it is just marked to be displayed bold.

The text to be italicized is marked to be italicized and does not actually become italicized in the editor window, it is just marked to be italicized.

Select the text you would like underlined

Click on the button.

The text to be underlined is marked to be underlined and does not actually become underlined in the editor window, it is just marked to be underlined.

Select the text you would like to color

Click on the button. A palette of colors will be displayed.

Click on one of the colors in the palette.

The text to be colored is marked to be colored and does not actually become colored in the editor window, it is just marked to be colored.

Click on the Normal drop down menu and select Large or Huge.

The text to be made larger is marked to be larger and does not actually become larger in the editor window, it is just marked to be larger.

Select the text you would like to make smaller

Click on the Normal drop down menu and select Tiny or Small.

Select the text you would like to be in a quote box.

Select the text of one of the items in the list.

Click on the button.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each item in the list.

For numbered lists skip to step 7. For lettered lists skip to step 11.
Bulleted List

Select the text you would like to make into a bulleted list.

Images can be added to a post using two different methods. One is by using the attachments section of the posting page. The second is dragging and dropping an image onto the message are of the posting screen.

Once images have been uploaded to a post they will be displayed at the end of the post unless they are placed inline the post.
Load Images Using the Attachments Section

Click the "Add Files" button

Select an image from the dialog box that pops up.

Click on the "Choose" button. The image will be uploaded.
Dragging and Dropping Images

Select the image you would like to add to the post

Drag the image onto the message area of the posting screen.

Drop the image and it will be uploaded.
Placing an Image Inline

Place the curser where you would like the image placed within the message window.

Click on the "Place Inline" button next to the desired image.

Code is added to the message indicating the placement of the image.
The image will be displayed inline as shown once the post is saved.

You can subscribe to both specific forum and specific topice. Subscriptions can be managed both through the forum and you website "Account Settings".

From the board index click on the name of the forum you would like to subscribe to.

Click on the icon to subscribe to the forum.
A checked box means you can subscribe to the forum by clicking on the box.

Click on the icon to unsubscribe to the forum.
An empty box means you are subscribed to the forum. Clicking unsubscribes.

From the forum page click on the topic you would like to subscribe to.

Click on the wrench dropdown to see the list of options.

Click on the checked box to subscribe to the topic.
A checked box means you can subscribe to the topic by clicking on the box.

Click on the unchecked box to unsubscribe from the topic.
An empty box means you are subscribed to the topic. Clicking unsubscribes.

Click on Account Setting from the drop-down menu in the top right of any website page.

Scroll down to the "Subscriptions" section of the page and find the forum you would like to subscribe to.

Click on the "On" button to subscribe.

Click on the "Off" button to unsubscribe.
